The Village of Massapequa Park is located in Nassau County near Sunrise Highway (New York 27) between Merrick and Amityville near South Oyster Bay. Sunrise Highway provides easy access to surrounding communities in addition to the main interstates. To the north of this village is the Southern State Parkway, and to the south is the Great South Bay and Bar Harbor. This community is accessible by rail, car and bus.
Massapequa Park offers residents an excellent choice of both public and private schools. The majority of the students in the Village attend schools within the Massapequa State School System (District 23). In the northernmost area of the Village students also can attend schools within the Farmingdale System (District 22). Both of these school districts offer four elementary schools, one junior high school and two high schools. There are also several private and parochial schools available.
For higher education, there are a variety of opportunities in the surrounding areas. Located in Garden City is the Nassau Community College, a two-year public school that awards associate degrees and certificates for specific programs. Many of the nearby four-year universities are parochial and/or private institutions such as the Long Island University CW Post - the eighth largest independent, non-profit university in the U.S. that awards doctoral degrees. Other schools include State University of New York at Old Westbury, Molloy College, and the New York College. There are also numerous colleges and universities in the New York City area.
